What is Christian Fellowship?

In Christianity, the concept of fellowship is often rooted in the Trinity, where God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in a perfect relationship of love and unity. This can serve as a model for human relationships, especially within the church. The early Christian community exemplified this in Acts 2:42-47, where believers "devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." The sharing of life, resources and faith - created a sense of belonging, reflecting the divine nature of God.

Fellowship fosters spiritual growth by encouraging believers to engage with one another in a meaningful and supportive way. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” In this sense, fellowship becomes a means for mutual edification, where believers strengthen and challenge each other in their faith journeys. This includes sharing wisdom, experiences, and spiritual insights, which leads to deeper personal growth and understanding of God.

Fellowship is seen as an expression of love and service to others. Jesus commanded his followers to “love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34), This love is expressed through acts of kindness, hospitality, and service to the community, creating a bond that reflects the love of God.

In times of difficulty or suffering, fellowship provides comfort and strength. The Bible frequently speaks of the importance of fellowship in supporting and encouraging one another. Galatians 6:2 says, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." This highlights the notion that fellowship is a means of sharing in each other’s joys and sorrows, helping to lighten the load of life's challenges.

How does the fellowship of the Hazelwell family match up to this model?
