We have re-introduced foodbank collections in church. The recipients will be the Spearhead trust based at Bells Farm, Druids Heath Fred Rattley is our link with the trust and the following is a recent appeal from their website.

“The Spearhead Trust at Bells Farmhouse runs a foodbank alongside other services to help and support members of our community. Due to the recent rise in the cost of

living we have seen a massive increase in demand for our foodbank and food

    supplies are running low.”

You are still encouraged to donate directly to the B30 foodbank during your weekly shop if that is more convenient

Foodbanks are currently faced with demand which exceeds the level of donations so please help if you are able.

    Reflection on Matthew 6:25-34

Not only does worry not change anything, it also adds unnecessary stress to our day.

Jesus used easy to understand examples to show that worrying is futile. Sure enough, worrying will not change anything, so ask God to change your thinking and to replace your worry with faith.

Jesus mentions that there is enough trouble for each day and we should therefore focus on living each day as it comes, without worrying about tomorrow (verse 34). This does not mean that we shouldn’t plan for the future, but it certainly means that we shouldn’t worry over it. A quote I read says ‘Planning for tomorrow is time well spent. Worrying about tomorrow is time wasted’.

Referring to food, drink and clothing (symbolic of all our needs), Jesus said, “…your Heavenly Father knows that you need them” (verse 32).

God not only knows our needs, He is more than able to take care of them! We are much more valuable to Him than birds or flowers!
